Vydrica Spring is the source of an important mountain stream that flows through a large part of Bratislava’s forest park. It is located in the Bratislava section of the Little Carpathians, near Biely Kríž crossroads above Rača District. Vydrica Spring is a pleasant, idyllic spot that is well worth visiting on a short excursion. You will find it near the red hiking trail that follows the main ridge of this mountain range.

The best way to reach Vydrica Spring is by hiking or cycling. If you plan to ride a bike, take a mountain bike, as part of the route goes through forest terrain. From Rača, you first need to climb a fairly steep hill, either via the asphalt road or the hiking path to Biely Kríž.
The route from Rača is marked, and you can reach a high point above the city by car or public transport. From there, however, you will need to park and continue a few more kilometers on foot.
From Biely Kríž, where refreshments are available at a small café, follow the red trail toward Pezinská Baba Recreation Area. After a short walk, take a turn off the main trail to the left, leading to the spring itself.
The spring is located in a shaded forest area, surrounded by beautiful natural scenery. It is recommended to use GPS navigation, or you can follow the Vydrica stream upstream, which flows near Biely Kríž. The spring can also be accessed from other directions via the network of hiking trails, but Rača is the closest starting point.
The spring itself is protected by a small wooden shelter, and a modest stream flows from it. The location is very pleasant and makes a great destination for anyone interested in discovering unusual natural spots in Bratislava.
The hike to the spring is manageable for children and seniors, though it is not a very short walk. If you have very young children and are in good physical condition, you could bring them in a child carrier or even a rugged terrain stroller.
A trip to Vydrica Spring is a fun and rewarding excursion for families, as well as for anyone who enjoys wandering through nature along less-traveled paths.
