Sakrakopec (440 m a.s.l.) is a hill located south of the main ridge of the Little Carpathians, above the southernmost outskirts of Rača District. It is also the site of an air disaster from 1966, when on November 24 at 4:30 p.m. a Bulgarian passenger aircraft, an Ilyushin Il-18, crashed here. All 82 people on board lost their lives, making it the deadliest aviation accident in the history of Slovakia.

Today, the site represents an unusual excursion destination near Bratislava. It has a slightly somber atmosphere, yet it is also a place where visitors can pay tribute to the victims of various nationalities and, deep in the forest, reflect on the paths of fate, which can unexpectedly change within a fraction of a second.
Sakrakopec can be reached via an easy hike from Rača along the blue trail, following an asphalt road through Biely Kríž hiking hub, where it is necessary to switch to the green trail. The same green trail also leads to Sakrakopec from town of Svätý Jur, allowing you to avoid the asphalt road. Alternatively, you can create a circular route using these marked trails and pass through the mentioned summit.
The blue trail can also be ascended by bicycle, although the climb is relatively demanding. The route is becoming increasingly popular among cyclists thanks to the high-quality asphalt and, of course, the fast descent from Biely Kríž. If you choose to go by bike, keep in mind that the section from Biely Kríž to Sakrakopec is more suitable for a mountain bike.
A hike to Sakrakopec can be completed as a relaxed half-day trip, even with children. There is a memorial at the site, as well as several small remnants of the aircraft itself. These can serve as motivation for children if they are reluctant to walk.
The hike is also manageable for seniors, although it is not a very short walk. Refreshments are available at the snack bar at Biely kríž, where there is also a spacious meadow suitable for pleasant relaxation.
