Biely Kameň Castle is one of the ruins located in the Little Carpathians, situated above Svätý Jur, not far from Bratislava. A trip to Biely Kameň is a great option for families with children, as well as for other categories of tourists who may not have time for a longer excursion.

The hike to the castle is short, making it possible to plan a half-day trip, including travel time. The ascent to the castle is moderately challenging, but due to its quick accessibility, it can be managed by most visitors.
You can reach the area below Biely Kameň quickly by car or public transport. Mountain bikers can also come, although some parts of the climb from town of Svätý Jur may require pushing the bike. An alternative route is from Biely Kríž Trail Junction, which is longer but offers a very interesting hike with many crosses along the way, reflecting the historic pilgrimage paths between Svätý Jur and Marianka Village.
Currently, volunteers are working to conserve the ruins, improving safety and increasing the castle’s appeal. Until recently, it was a precarious site with loose stones from crumbling walls and terrain hazards within the ruins.
The castle provides another glimpse into the history of the Little Carpathians. Unlike some other ruins in the area, it does not offer panoramic views, as it is surrounded by dense forest. On the other hand, this adds to the sense of mystery, making it an engaging destination for children.
The hike from Svätý Jur to Biely Kameň Castle is of low difficulty. Steep terrain may require a reasonable level of fitness, but the trail is short, allowing plenty of breaks. For those unsure about handling the terrain, trekking poles are recommended and will also be useful for the descent.
