The Vilmoš Waterfalls are a small cascade system on the Drmolez Stream above the village of Marianka. They are named after the local native Viliam Jánoš, who enjoyed wandering through the surrounding nature.

Vilmoš Waterfalls

Visiting these mini waterfalls is an excellent outing, especially on hot days, as the area has a pleasant microclimate created by the calm stream. The path to the waterfalls runs through dense forest, making it a peaceful nature experience.

This little natural gem is a great destination for families with children, seniors, dog walks, or even a scenic running route. The terrain is easy, and although the trail is not marked with official tourist signs, it is easy to follow.

You can reach Vilmoš Waterfalls on foot from the Calvary in Marianka Village. Borinka, the nearby village, is well connected by public transport and car. From there, continue on foot via the Calvary and follow the trail along the Drmolez Stream.

A mobile navigation app can be useful for orientation. The path continues along the stream practically all the way to the waterfalls. It is possible to cycle part of the route on a mountain bike, although the trail is not ideal for biking. If cycling, it is recommended to bypass the steep Calvary section. From Marianka, it takes roughly 30–45 minutes on foot to reach the waterfalls.

Vilmoš Waterfalls are one of the local attractions of the Little Carpathians. There are several other small waterfalls nearby Marianka, which can be combined into a short hike. The waterfalls themselves are marked with a wooden sign and form multiple cascades. They are most impressive after rainfall or during snowmelt; otherwise, the experience may be less striking.

The hike to the waterfalls is perfect for children, who can play in the stream along the way. On hot days, the entire route is shaded by trees. Seniors who enjoy walking in the forest can also enjoy the trail, though the steep Calvary section may be challenging. They can take an alternative route via Potočná Street in Marianka, which connects to the trail along the Drmolez Stream.

Apart from the initial Calvary section, the hike is not steep. The trail follows the stream with only gentle inclines. Descending the Calvary on the return may be slightly tricky. Otherwise, the route is suitable for all types of hikers. The alternative route bypassing the Calvary via Potočná Street is recommended for easier access.

Near the Vilmoš Waterfalls, you can visit the beautiful Stánisko Meadow, which also features the Jaskováci Tramp Campsite. On the edge of this meadow, there is a small forest spring called Šenkárka pod Stániskom. You can return to Marianka from Stánisko via the blue-marked trail, creating a pleasant circular route.
