Malý Slavín Spring (Studnička Malý Slavín) is one of the many charming forest springs in the Little Carpathians. The spring is located close to Bratislava, in the heart of the mountain range, between Rača District and Marianka Village, right next to a forest meadow and a memorial of the same name.

The water is not guaranteed to be completely drinkable, but after proper treatment, it should be safe for use. If you are looking for a romantic spot for a trip, Malý Slavín Spring is the perfect destination.
Several hiking and cycling trails lead to Malý Slavín. The spring itself is found in a natural depression between the war memorial and the Malý Slavín meadow, along the yellow trail. The most scenic hikes start from Marianka or Rača. For cycling, we highly recommend the captivating singletrack Cerová Dráha from Železná Studnička Recreation Area, or the beautiful trail along the Vydrica Stream Valley.
The hikes to Malý Slavín Spring are of moderate difficulty. They are not very short and require a basic level of fitness, as you need to climb into the hills above Bratislava. The same applies for cycling – the trails are in forest terrain but are not technically difficult.
This outing is suitable for hikers, bikers, runners, and in winter, cross-country skiers. Seniors can manage at least a shorter version of the hike, for example from Rača. It is also a great trip for dog owners.
The spring itself is a lovely forest spring, well-maintained and covered with a small roof. Water quality is regularly tested, and the results, along with the date of analysis, are usually posted at the site. Water potability may vary from year to year.
The spring is located near a meadow with a shelter, perfect for relaxation, and adjacent to the war memorial, giving the area undeniable charm. Malý Slavín Meadow is an ideal place to rest in nature, featuring a new shelter suitable for picnics and even a small football area.
If hiking from Rača, don’t miss another beautiful Little Carpathians location along the way – Pánova Meadow (Pánova Lúka). The architecturally unique Vydrica Animal Observation Tower is also worth a visit nearby.
