The Way of the Cross in the Kramáre area, near Stará Klenová Street, is an outdoor path set in a pleasant forest environment on the edge of the Little Carpathians. It begins near the National Oncology Institute and ends in the forest below the summit of Kamzík.

Way of the Cross - Kramáre

The path was created by Jozef Plško as a form of gentle rest and reflection, particularly for seriously ill patients from nearby hospitals. Whether you want to engage in spiritual contemplation or simply take a short walk when you don’t have time for a longer hike, this Way of the Cross is an excellent choice. It is also easily accessible for Bratislava residents.

The route is conveniently located near the National Oncology Institute, making it reachable by car, though public transport is even more practical, avoiding the need to find parking. Parking is available near the institute but tends to fill up during weekdays, so visiting in the late afternoon is preferable. From the parking area, the path continues on foot along Stará Klenová Street to the start of the Way of the Cross, which climbs, at times quite steeply, toward the Kamzík summit.

The Way of the Cross consists of the traditional stations depicting biblical events from the Passion of Christ. The artwork was created by Brazilian artist Marcelo Molinari, with the panels produced in enamel workshops in Holíč. The path was consecrated on July 5, 2018, by the local parish administrator, Miroslav Szuda.

This route offers an interesting alternative ascent to Kamzík. If you prefer more meaningful experiences than simply walking through the forest, this path provides the chance for contemplation and reflection.

The Way of the Cross initially follows the forest edge along a concrete road, with the final section leading into fully wooded areas directly beneath Kamzík. The atmosphere is especially striking when illuminated by flickering candles or during the forest twilight, adding a spiritual dimension to the walk.

Such an experience can transform even a familiar hike to Kamzík into something unusual and memorable. The Kramáre Way of the Cross is recommended for nature lovers, families with children, and seniors, though the steep sections may not suit everyone. It can also serve as an interesting segment of a forest training run. Visitors are encouraged to maintain a sense of reverence while on the path.
