The Church of Our Lady of the Snow is one of Bratislava’s notable sacred buildings, distinguished by its unique architecture and tranquil location. It is situated in the Kalvária area of the Old Town, one of the city’s quietest corners, despite being surrounded by residential buildings.

Access to the church from the city center is via Hlboká Street, which historically served as a road to a quarry. This steep, rock-lined path gives the impression of leaving the city bustle behind and entering a calmer, elevated space.
At the end of Hlboká Street, the church building comes into view. It is administered by the Order of Preachers – the Dominicans. The church was built in 1943, making it one of the younger sacral structures in Bratislava.
The Church of Our Lady of the Snow can be reached on a pleasant walk from the main train station along Hlboká Street. Vehicle access is restricted, so visitors arriving by car are advised to approach from Prokopa Veľkého Street. There is a small parking area near the Funus Pub or limited parking in the surrounding streets. The church is also accessible by public transport.
Both the exterior and interior of the church stand out for their clean, simple lines and minimalist decoration. The interior is spacious, furnished with wooden pews, and the entire building is painted white.
A significant alteration in the past was the demolition of the original tower, which stood 50 meters high and allegedly blocked the view of the Slavín Military Memorial. The church was built on the site of a former chapel, prompted by the growing population of Bratislava and the increasing need for places of worship.
The surrounding area offers several interesting sites. In the slope of Hlboká Street, visitors can find the Lurdes Cave of Our Lady and the stations of the local Calvary. For relaxation, the nearby Horský Park is ideal, and views of the city and Bratislava Castle can be enjoyed from the Slavín area.
