Frenki's Trail is a pleasant forest path located in the Kačín area near the Kováčova Vila Forester’s Cabin. It’s perfect for lovers of forest tranquility and romantic walks. The trail leads through the woods from Kačínska Road, past the cabin, along the stream of the Malá Vydrica Spring (also called Bystrička), and eventually joins the yellow hiking trail, also known as the Drieňovský Ridge Trail. The path winds through picturesque corners of the forest, offering a relaxing stroll and a lovely experience of nature.
The easiest access to Frenki's Trail is from Kačín Valley, via the asphalt road from the bus stop at Železná Studnička Leisure Area. Just before Kačín, near the large pond on Bystrička (formerly called Malá Vydrica until 1974; both names appear on maps), turn right onto the forest path that marks the start of Frenki's Trail.
Soon you will reach the Kováčova Vila Forester’s Cabin and the Kačín wooden treehouses, another interesting feature along the route. The trail narrows as it continues, taking you through the charming corners of old tramping settlements and near the spring of Bystrička (Malá Vydrica).
The spring is slightly off the trail, but it’s worth a short detour. Alternatively, you can reach it via the yellow trail, depending on your preference. Frenki's Trail itself intersects with this yellow route, making the subsequent hike equally scenic.
A larger loop that includes Frenki's Trail can also be recommended. This loop starts at the bus stop at Železná studnička, continues through Kačín Valley, follows the Drieňovský Ridge Trail with a stop at the Malá Vydrica Spring, and returns.
The Kačín Valley section features several educational panels. Another option is to return via an unmarked forest path called Michalský Chodník, which leads back through Kačín to Kačín Valley. In fact, there are many ways to combine paths in this area. A GPS device and a suitable mobile hiking map are useful for exploring these routes.
