The viewpoint below Bratislavský Drieňovec is a small wooden structure in the style of a hunting tower, allowing visitors to observe the surrounding forest. It is located just a short distance from Kamzík Hill and is considered a minor tourist attraction in Bratislava.
If you expect panoramic views of the city or the Small Carpathians, you may be disappointed. Instead, it is a pleasant destination for a short excursion, offering a peaceful escape from city noise and a chance to enjoy the nature of the forest park. It can also be reached by bicycle, as a bike path runs nearby, although this section is more suitable for older children.
To reach the viewpoint from Kamzík, you can either take the Paťbojársky Trail by bike or follow the red hiking trail along the main ridge of the Small Carpathians, turning at Dieliky toward the yellow bike trail. If walking, it is recommended to follow the hiking trail and carefully use the edge of the bike path for the final section, as the path widens here.
Walking directly on the bike path from Kamzík is not advised, as it is narrow and there is a risk of collision with cyclists. Kamzík itself can be reached by car or public transport. There are several starting points for the hike depending on your preference. The mini lookout is located right next to the bike path and is easy to find, but it is helpful to consult a map or use mobile navigation in advance.
The viewpoint is a nice spot for a light hike, where you can connect several scenic areas near Kamzík. The route from Kamzík passes through a well-visited part of the Small Carpathians and features a pleasant leafy forest atmosphere.
For children, it can be an introductory hike in their home hills, rewarded by a stop at the mini lookout. Although the views are not spectacular, the tower is situated in beautiful nature away from crowded spots. The hike can also be combined with a small picnic or barbecue; there are several shelters with fire pits along the hiking trail, but you will need to bring your own water.
An alternative is to reach the lookout by bike via the Paťbojársky Trail from Kamzík. This trail is one of the most scenic in the Bratislava Forest Park and can be extended into a loop by connecting with the Krasňanský Trail back to Kamzík. However, this route is more physically and technically demanding, suitable for active cyclists.
The difficulty of the hike to the viewpoint is easy. It is a relaxed trail for families with children learning about hiking, as well as an interesting destination for seniors, dog walks, or as an unusual training route for runners. In winter, the trail is also suitable for cross-country skiing.
