Schöne Náci is a very popular statue representing a former legend of Bratislava’s Old Town, a man named Ignác Lamár. This character could regularly be seen in the streets and businesses of the city up until the 1960s. He was always dressed elegantly in a suit and hat and behaved with great courtesy.

Schöne Náci Statue

Schöne Náci became one of the unforgettable personalities of old Bratislava. This statue, created by sculptor Juraj Meliš, serves as a tribute and reminder of this notable resident of the capital. Even today, Schöne Náci attracts crowds – especially foreign tourists, who often may not know exactly whom the statue represents – but happily pose for photos under his hat.

The statue is located at the edge of Hlavné Námestie (Main Square), in the heart of the Old Town, on Rybárska Brána Street, right next to Café Mayer. The best way to visit it is by public transport and then on foot. From any nearby stops in the historic center, it’s just a short walk.

Driving here is less convenient, as parking in underground garages is expensive, and street parking is usually fully occupied and paid. Exceptions may be later in the evening or on weekend mornings.

Nearby, you can also visit other popular statues, such as Čumil and the Napoleonic Soldier. Both are only a few dozen meters away from Schöne Náci. The walk here will certainly interest children, but seniors can manage it easily as well.
