The Tower of the Old Town Hall is one of the most well-known historic landmarks of Bratislava’s Old Town. Located on Hlavné Námestie (Main Square), it forms, together with the surrounding buildings, one of the most beautiful architectural ensembles in the city center. It is a highly visited tourist site and also serves as an excellent viewpoint. Be sure to visit for romantic city views or for beautiful photos.

Old Town Hall Tower – Bratislava

Access to the tower is generally very good. There are public transport stops nearby, although not directly at the tower, so you may need to walk up to 15 minutes from the nearest stop to reach the center. Driving is not recommended, as parking in the center is scarce and expensive.

Cycling is possible, but there is limited space to securely park a bike – only on the street. Entry to the tower is from the courtyard of the Old Town Hall, where you will also pay an admission fee. Opening hours are limited, so nighttime views are generally not available.

The tower offers panoramic views of the Old Town. Visitors can access these by climbing to the outdoor terrace that runs around the entire perimeter of the tower. The most striking view is directly over Main Square, which is particularly attractive during the Christmas markets.

The tower is a great excursion for families with children as well as for history enthusiasts. However, keep in mind that reaching the terrace requires climbing many stairs, which may be challenging for some.
