Part of the Bratislava promenade running along the left bank of the Danube between the SNP Bridge and the Passenger Port, just a short distance from a bus stop, features an interesting small monument dedicated to the famous Slovak writer, priest, and politician Martin Rázus.

Martin Rázus Monument

This section of the waterfront is called Rázus Embankment. The monument is a smaller black granite obelisk built from objects shaped like books. Important milestones from Rázus’s life, as well as his quotations, are engraved on glass panels.

Martin Rázus was one of Slovakia’s most significant personalities, and this memorial commemorates the 75th anniversary of his death and the 125th anniversary of his birth. The small monument can be a nice minor excursion tip within Bratislava when there is not enough time for something more extensive.

You can reach the Martin Rázus Monument by public transport, but also very conveniently by bicycle along the embankment. The waterfront is accessible from practically any part of Bratislava through a network of cycling routes. Of course, visiting the monument can also be an interesting addition to a walk through the Old Town or along the promenade.

The Martin Rázus Monument is an excellent excursion tip for visitors of all ages and fitness levels. Small children may not find it particularly interesting on its own, but it may at least be of interest to parents during a stroller walk along the promenade. The monument is situated in a quite pleasant location where you can also enjoy views of the Danube or relax on benches by the river.
