Chorvátske Rameno, also known as the Chorvátsky Canal, is located in Petržalka. It is an impressive 5 km long and approximately 1.5 m deep. In a broader sense, it can be seen as a kind of waterway running through a large part of this Bratislava district.

Chorvátske rameno River Branch

Today, Chorvátske Rameno offers numerous opportunities for active relaxation. Its immediate surroundings provide excellent conditions for walking, easy cycling, stroller walks, and running.

The canal is also a popular spot among anglers, which is truly unique in the middle of a housing estate. When the water freezes, it also becomes attractive to ice skaters. Access to the canal is very good, which helps make it an ideal place for relaxation for everyone.

Chorvátske Rameno stretches from the Petržalka flood embankment—more precisely from the area of the wastewater treatment plant—almost to the Old Bridge. It can be accessed at several points by car or public transport. However, the best way to experience it is by cycling alongside it or going for a run nearby.

The canal creates a unique backdrop among the apartment blocks of Slovakia’s largest housing estate. It offers surprisingly rich opportunities for easily accessible leisure and relaxation. It enhances the quality of life for Petržalka residents and, thanks to cycling paths along its banks, is easily accessible to all Bratislava residents.

For example, you can take a loop from the Old Town in combination with the cycling route along the flood embankment. It is a route suitable almost any time after work. The area is also great for running if you do not mind an asphalt surface, and walks here are equally pleasant.

All of these activities can be combined with a visit to Veľký Draždiak Lake, arguably the most popular body of water in Petržalka District, where people enjoy swimming in summer. Fishing is also possible in Chorvátske Rameno.

If you are seeking mental relaxation, the sight of water lilies floating on the canal will surely soothe your soul. Boating is not currently available on the canal, but it is expected to be possible in the future.

This body of water is suitable for all types of visitors. It is well worth visiting if you have limited time and are looking for interesting places in Bratislava that are ideal for active relaxation.
